As a part of our sustainability goals and efforts, we have achieved Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Plastic Certification from AM Testing and continue to participate in the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) PCR Certification Program. Highlighting our dedication to sustainability and supply chain integrity, this certification ensures that the following materials generated at our recycling facility in South Haven, MI from used horticultural containers satisfy the requirements for post-consumer recycled plastic:
- Polypropylene (PP)
- Polystyrene (PS)
- High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
What is PCR Certification?
APR is an international non-profit organization focused on making plastic recycling better, and they offer PCR Certification. The certification helps businesses:

- Show customers that their plastic recycling efforts are legitimate and authentic
- Show customers that they meet upcoming regulations.
Achieving certification is an important milestone for our company and shows our commitment to creating sustainable solutions for our partners.
What makes a product PCR certified?
For a company to receive PCR Certification and verify their percentage of PCR content, their product(s) using recycled materials must go through a certification process following the APR’s process. The APR works with certifying organizations (such as AM Testing) to:
- Review findings
- Validate PCR input
- Conduct mass balance analysis
- Visit your business in person or virtually.
Upon approval of the above, you’ll receive certification.
What does PCR Certification mean for us?
We believe in making the best use of our resources. That’s why we are deciding to take advantage of the post-industrial and post-consumer plastic that’s sitting around our planet waiting to be used.

Transforming these materials into sustainable solutions is part of our commitment to creating an energy-efficient, closed-loop plastic recycling process—making it easy for growers to fill, plant, ship, and display product around their greenhouse, nursery, or garden center. If we stay on track this year, we will recycle roughly 20 million pounds of used horticultural containers, which is now certified 100% PCR and a part of our closed-loop recycling process. Plus, a closed-loop recycling process is the most circular recycling available.
While PCR Certification helps us promote our products, it’s wonderful to receive such recognition for our efforts in creating sustainable horticultural solutions.
